Being an authentic and successful leader is about having an awareness of your own strengths, values and purpose. Take some time this month to reflect on these.
- What are your strengths and opportunities?
- What motivates you and gives you energy?
- How can you best apply your strengths?
- Are you leveraging your strengths in your role?
- What do you need to do to address the gaps?
This month complete the Clifton Strengths Assessment to discover what you naturally do best.
The assessment was developed by Don Clifton (1924-2003) who returned to the US after flying B-24s in World War 2 and devoted himself to human development. He asked “What would happen if we studied what was right with people versus what’s wrong with people?” and began an area of research that focused on people’s strengths – identifying them & maximising their potential in all areas of life. In 2003 Clifton was honoured by the American Psychological Association with a Presidential Commendation as the Father of Strengths-Based Psychology.
As you gain a better understanding of your strengths and abilities you are more able to design an achievable action plan to reach your goals.
Reflect on your strengths and how you can use them more effectively in your career and life.
Discuss your insights with your mentor and be open to feedback.
