Having reached the final stages of your mentoring program, it is important to take the time to reflect and review the past year and your achievements. It is also an opportunity to make some plans for the next year.
What has been the most valuable part of this experience? What have you learnt? How will you share this with your manager or team?
To help you reflect on how far you have come, your final activity is to complete a personal SWOT analysis. This activity will help you gain a better understanding of your strengths and abilities and compare them to the SWOT you completed at the beginning of the program.
In your final meeting with your mentor consider the SWOT comparisons. If you haven’t achieved some of your goals, discuss this and look at why this occurred. You should also discuss some plans for the next year.
Thank your mentor and let them know how they have assisted and challenged you, people always like feedback.
Like any professional relationship it is useful to have a formal conclusion. Think of a suitable way to do this, something you will both enjoy.
We also encourage you to consider this program as part of your development journey.
What commitments can you make to continue your learning? Or to keep carving out time for strategic reflection.
Best wishes and good luck!
