Your first session is all about setting your goals for the next 12 months. Setting goals gives you a long-term vision and short-term motivation ensuring you are heading in the right direction. Goals allow you to plan more strategically and help direct your energy into what’s most important so that you are empowered to take control of your career and life.
Consider:
- What do you need to do so that you feel happy and successful?
- How committed are you to achieving these goals?
- Is anything holding you back?
This month, in Goals, please choose 10 cards that are most important to you for next 12 months and share these with your mentor, or better still do the card activity with your mentor at the first session, it is a fun and useful way to set priorities for the year ahead.
Take a photo of your 10 goals and store them somewhere visible – on your computer or on your phone – and share these with your mentor.
Remember these goals often change during the mentoring program and you can revisit them at any time. As you progress through the program you should reflect on your goals, look at how you are tracking against them and consider whether they remain relevant.
