Philanthropy Mentoring Program 2014

McCarthy Mentoring is working with the Australia Council for the Arts and Creative Partnerships Australia in 2014 to deliver a Philanthropy Mentoring Program for the arts sector.

10 successful applicants have been given the opportunity to work one-to-one with an experienced executive to increase revenue via philanthropy. Mentors draw on their experience in business, not for profits and as company directors to provide strategic advice and practical  insights on philanthropy programs. Research shows that partnering with a confidential mentor builds people’s confidence and offers increased networks, inspiration and skills.

Launched in 2005, the program sought to grow the philanthropic support of select Major Performing Arts Companies. The results show funds to arts companies via philanthropy and sponsorship increased by a stunning 120% from $31m to $68m in 2013.

In 2014, the additional support of Creative Partnerships Australia with the Australia Council has enabled the program to be extended to arts organisations, including festivals and galleries, that employ a philanthropy manager and have an annual operating turnover of more than $2 million.
